Webinar: Building the Legal Framework behind eCR

A new webinar series will launch in October to highlight key areas of focus for the Digital Bridge initiative. The first webinar, Building the Legal Framework behind Electronic Case Reporting, will take place October 11, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Р2:00 p.m. ET and will cover the legal background, challenges and strategies in place to implement eCR at a national level. The webinar will be led by Walter Suarez, executive director of health IT strategy and policy at Kaiser Permanente, and Jim Jellison, director of practice support at the Public Health Informatics Institute. AMIA Annual Symposium

A panel of experts, including members involved in Digital Bridge, will present at the AMIA Annual Symposium this fall. The session, entitled “Advancing Electronic Case Reporting (eCR) to Enable Public Health Disease Control and Emergency Response: Getting into the Technical Weeds,” will describe the current manual difficulties in reporting public health data and how eCR can be used as a solution. The panelists will share how the current eCR strategy will work, the technical standards that support bi-directional communication between health care and public health, and the strengths and limitations present in the proposed eCR approach.

APHA 2017 Annual Meeting & Expo

Vivian Singletary, Jeff Engel and Joel Hartsell will speak on a panel at the APHA Conference to discuss the Digital Bridge and communicate the value of electronic case reporting.
